Many compilations were created in the downtime of COVID 19; Dan Siegel's Faraway Place album is one of them. With this being his 22nd CD as a leader, the album boasts of 11 tasty originals that are mellow and cool in some instances with lots of strings and horns included.
Dan described this compilation as a "different kind of album because of the pandemic". Dan said in a recent interview that the music was written in isolation and most of the tracks were recorded at the musicians own home studio.
"Tried and True" is the first release, a brilliantly written buoyant single that has a 80s jazz feel and it really isn't a bad thing. That nostalgic sound calls to mind an era that existed without the fear of the pandemic. And for that, the single brings a musical comfort like no other.
